Project SOPA (Sustainable Organic Produce for All) / General Funding

Working Theory Farm is a nonprofit, suburban organic farm in Hillsboro, Oregon that empowers youth through the shared work of farming. Through its partnership with Centro Cultural, much of its food goes to low-income Latinx families, many of whom are migrants or undocumented.

In response to the pandemic, Working Theory Farm doubled their crop yield to distribute more than 15,000 lbs. of food through their partners, including Centro Cultural. In addition to providing produce to community members, WTF also provides employment, mentorship and structure to at-risk youth.

One of their programs, Project SOPA, is an initiative to address the racial disparities of poverty and food insecurity among migrant workers in the community. The goal is to sustain their annual contribution of more than 10,000 pounds of fresh, organic and diverse produce to their partner, Centro Cultural.

Working Theory Farm will receive a $15,000 grant from Simply Organic in 2022 to support Project SOPA and help the organization continue to grow.
