Food Security for Kids

TABLE works to alleviate the risks of hunger and improve children’s health by making quality foods and produce accessible, including culturally relevant options, and by providing nutrition education lessons to families in Orange County, NC. 

Through partnerships with local, sustainable farms and local food hubs, including BIPOC and women-owned farms, TABLE supports a stable revenue stream for farmers while also purchasing organic produce for its programming. Produce is packaged with healthy nonperishables and delivered directly to food-insecure households each week.

TABLE has offered food security to 1,000 families in 2024 (with a waitlist of 100) and plans to serve 1,125 families in 2025. Each week, children and their families receive a bag with 20 nutritionist-approved items, including fresh produce and healthy nonperishables that accommodate allergy and dietary restrictions for that home.

TABLE will receive a $54,500 grant from Simply Organic® in 2025-2026 to continue improving children’s health through access to quality foods — all while keeping dollars local and small farms stable!
