Vanilla Bourbon Glazed Salmon

A simple, sweet-savory glaze gets extra depth of flavor from pure Madagascar vanilla extract, for a succulent bourbon salmon thatās rich and not too sweet.

Ingredients
- 1/4 cup bourbon
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon Simply OrganicĀ® Crushed Red Pepper
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce (use liquid aminos or coconut aminos for a gluten-free alternative; coconut aminos are also soy free)
- 1 teaspoon Simply OrganicĀ® Pure Madagascar Vanilla Extract
- 4 salmon fillets (about 6 ounces each)
- Sea or Himalayan pink salt, to taste
- Oil for frying
- Green onion, thinly sliced, optional
Directions
- Place a small saucepan over medium heat and add bourbon, brown sugar, butter, red pepper flakes and soy sauce. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat slightly and simmer for about 5 minutes, until glaze starts to thicken. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
- Season each salmon fillet with salt to taste.
- Heat a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add oil to heated skillet. Place fillets in skillet skin side up and sear until golden brown, then carefully flip over. Brush salmon with glaze. After a minute or two, brush again. Repeat until all glaze is used and salmon is cooked through to 145 degrees.
- Serve warm with thinly sliced green onion.
