Food Security Produce for Newcomers
Project Worthmore is a nonprofit organization that fosters community, promotes self- sufficiency, and improves the quality of life of refugees and immigrants in the Denver metro area.
Its Yu Meh Food Share Program provides access to free, nutrient-dense and culturally relevant foods grown on the collaborative, five-acre DeLaney Community Farm. Access to healthy food options helps reduce food insecurity and reliance on inexpensive, nutrient-poor foods that are linked to chronic health concerns. During the growing season, the farm supports self-sufficiency by employing newcomers and offering educational opportunities to the greater community.
These initiatives work in tandem to create a sustainable model for food security, while also ensuring community integration that empowers newcomer families to focus on securing permanent employment, safe housing, and essential services.
Project Worthmore will receive a $100,000 grant from Simply Organic® in 2025-2026 to expand these programs and the critical role they play in health and self-sufficiency for refugee and immigrant communities in the Denver area.
