Ginger Sesame Citrus Scones
“Top of the morning” will take on a delightfully citrusy feel with these delicious scones, featuring Simply Organic lemon peel coupled with ginger, sesame seed and orange flavor.
Ingredients
1 tablespoon lemon peel
2 tablespoons boiling water
1 1/4 cups unbleached flour
1 1/4 cups cake flour
2 tablespoons sesame seeds
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon ginger root ground
1/4 cup butter
1 cup vanilla yogurt
1/4 teaspoon orange flavor
1 egg
1/3 cup {crystallized ginger}, minced
2 tablespoons boiling water
1 1/4 cups unbleached flour
1 1/4 cups cake flour
2 tablespoons sesame seeds
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon ginger root ground
1/4 cup butter
1 cup vanilla yogurt
1/4 teaspoon orange flavor
1 egg
1/3 cup {crystallized ginger}, minced
Directions
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
Soak the lemon peel in the water in a small bowl for 10 minutes.
In a large bowl mix the flours, sesame seeds, baking powder, baking soda and ground ginger. Cut in the butter until the mixture is crumbly. Stir in the yogurt, orange flavor, egg, minced ginger and lemon peel with water. Mix well.
On a floured surface, roll out to 1/2-inch thickness. Cut into rounds with a 2 1/2-inch cutter. Place on a baking sheet sprayed with non-stick vegetable spray.
Bake for 10 minutes, or until lightly brown. Best served warm.
